An exceptional flamenco guitar from Leonardo Plattner made in the former workshop of Arcangel Fernandez with some of his old tonewoods. A 1st grade very old spruce quality top selected from the few tops he acquired from Arcangel Fernandez, very silky spruce and perfectly quartered, the beautiful rosette has central tiles in Arcangel's style, the outer decoration is influenced by Enrique Garcia, the rosewood bridge has a wide, bone framed tie block cap, shellac french polished, very good craftsmanship, easy to play….An exceptionally good instrument with clear charming, ringing trebles, middle to warm beautifully balanced basses and a perfect dry percussive flamenco sound. Leonard Plattner bought the workshop, tools and remaining tonewoods from Arcangel Fernandez. Leonard spent nearly a year learning Arcangel his methods working alongside him until his retirement. Today, Leonard is making very high end quality guitars. This individual artisan crafted instrument really is like those charming characters that have been crafted in the 40's and 50’s. Leonardo Plattner is a Swiss luthier, born in 1978, who lives in Madrid. Leonardo Plattner entered the world of violin making through music, as a guitarist. After working for several years with Jacques Vincenti in Geneva, he moved to Madrid in 2010 with the intention of learning traditional Madrid building techniques. This quest leads him to knock on the door of the prestigious Arcangel Fernandez, last active link of the "great" school of Madrid (Santos Hernandez, Marcelo Barbero). Arcangel Fernandez, about to retire, agrees to share his knowledge and to transmit his method of construction. In October 2011, Leonard took over the workshop of Arcangel Fernandez and since, built his own guitars with tools, woods and templates inherited from his master. Leonardo Plattner offers concert instruments entirely made by hand while perpetuating the same gestures that shaped the prestige of Madrilenian flamenco guitars.
