Jesús de Jiménez, from Sevilla Spain and one of the most promising guitar makers today, just finished this great new cypress flamenco guitar. Jesús his guitars have been played by very popular performers, such as Rafael Riqueni, Paco de Lucía, Manolo Franco, Tomatito, Niño de Pura, Dani de Morón, Antonio-Rey, Pedro Muriel, Óscar Portuguez, Pedro Sierra, Antonio Carrión, Antonio Sánchez… being highly regarded in the last decade. The woods used for the fine instrument are top quality and have followed an optimal seasoning process, being incredibly light and beautiful. First grade old aged German spruce for the soundbaord and spanish Cypress for back and sides. The top has a very accentuated grain, completely straight and uniform, the cypress an outstanding quality and beauty. The high quality sound can be heard in the bass strings, deep, punchy and powerful, full of character, a superf typical flamenco dry sound with vivid trebles, great clarity and scope. The tension is middle with a very reduced string action in the saddle and fingerboard, incredibly easy to play with low action and comfortable neck.for both hands. Craftsmanship and French polish is of a very high level.
Born in Osuna (Sevilla) in 1973, Jesús de Jiménez started playing guitar when he was a little child. Already as a young child, the typical percussive flamenco sound of his grandfather, playing those old falsetas, triggered his curiosity and interest in the construction process. How could it be that those melodies made the hairs on his neck and arms stand on end, by some pieces of wood glued together as if it were a simple puzzle? Thinking of this would kept Jesús awake at night for as long as he can remember. He had to feel with his own hands how the sound is created and understand how it is drawn from the woods. Eventually, but already at an age of 20 years he started constructing flamenco guitars with the help of his grandfather who was a highly recognized guitarist at that time. In 2000 Jesús de Jiménez started his own workshop in Gilena (Sevilla) researching and improving his design and eventually leading him to the highest positions in the guitar makers rank. He has worked for some of the greatest performers ever such as Paco de Lucía, Manolo Franco and Niño de Pura among others.
